Benoit Viellefon

Benoit Viellefon is a quite well known resident of St leonards-on-Sea (Hastings East Sussex) and he thought it might be a good idea to do a very intimate local concert for the first time. After 20 years of performing an average of 150 show a year, mostly in the UK but also in Europe, Russia, India and Japan, he's decided to scale down his act to go back to his roots performing only with two acoutic guitars and vocals. He will be performing with his regular collaborator Jarrod Elks a mix of 1920 to 1940's music, from Gypsy jazz, american standards, Blues, Latin and Chanson Francaise to Blue grass and Rhythm and Blues. The venue (Arigato) is a well known local japanese restaurant with a capacity of 30 seats with great food, drinks and a relaxing atmosphere.


Please book in advance and arrive between 19:30 and 20:00.

THE VENUE:
Arigato is a vibrant Café Restaurant and Bar situated on the trendy Norman Road, St Leonards-on-sea sea front. We provide authentic Japanese cuisine, and Japanese drinks. The food is very healthy freshly cooked daily, and the atmosphere is very friendly. Vegan, babies and dogs welcome.

Due to popular demand Benoit Viellefon is coming to play again at the Brunswick theatre, Brighton-Hove.

The Hot Club will play a mix of 1920-30-40's music and will feature world class guitarist Jarrod Elks, no1 Double bass player George Trebar and Swedish trad jazz sensation Bjorn Dahlberg on the clarinet and tenor saxophone.

The concert will take place at the Brunswick in Hove.
There are only 70 tickets available with some seating available on a first arrived first served basis.

Doors will open at 19:00, and the band will play at about 19:45.

Benoit Viellefon Will perform with his Quartet at the Grapevine, Tenterden's new Jazz hideaway.

Opened in the Autumn of 2024, The Grapevine Champagne & Jazz Bar has joined Tenterden, the Jewel of the Weald. ABOUT THE BENOIT VIELLEFON HOT CLUB:

Benoit Viellefon has long been a firm favourite at the most elegant places around the country. The line up and orchestrations are inspired by the hot swinging music that emerged from the infamous Parisian Cafes and nightclubs of the 1930s ‘40s.

The Hot Club’s performances celebrates the burning excitement of those hot gypsy swing numbers made famous by Django Reinhardt, together with the romanticism of the finest French numbers. With a nod to the American jazz virtuosi who visited Paris, such as Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet, the Hot Club features both clarinet and trumpet alongside the timeless two-guitars and double bass lineup. But they are also often true to the original "Hot Quintet De France" Django Reinhardt Grapelli line up, with the addition of a virtuoso Violin player.

The Hot Club is resident at Ronnie Scotts and performs the best of gypsy swing, hot jazz, French music and timeless melodies from the 1920s, 30's and 40s. They have been in huge demand for major cultural events and concert hall performances including: headline slots at Glastonbury’s Jazz Stage, BBC2, BBC Radio3, Hollywood films, National Television, regular appearances at Ronnie Scotts, the Royal Albert Hall, Madonna's private parties, Royal Family private events and a host of European performances.

The train station St-Leonards Warrior Square is just 5-10mn walk away, and there is ample parking outside.

The concert will take place at the Crown House in St Leonards-on-Sea (hastings), designed by the renowned Architect James Burton (Regent park, Regent Street, Bloomsbury, Marble Arch). It was the first building erected in St-leonards-on-Sea, and where a young Queen Victoria stayed over the Winter 1834-35. It has been recently refurbished, and the decor is like a mid to late 19th century time travel to Paris & Brighton with a mix of Regency elegance, French art de vivre with strong bohemian flavours, chinoiseries and Montmartre Orientalism.
